The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is proud to announce our call for nominations for Officers and Councilors. In 2010, the IASP voting membership will elect a President-elect, a Secretary, a Treasurer and five (5) Councilors. We invite you, as an IASP member, to send in nominations of those who have considerable respect and credibility within the pain community and can bring strategic sense to inform and guide IASP's directions.
If you choose to nominate someone, please keep the following guidelines in mind.
Nominees must
be current, active regular IASP members for at least two years.
be able to communicate effectively in English.
have access to the internet and hold an active email account. Most IASP business is done via email.
be able to make the time commitment to attend one board meeting per year and take an active role in IASP committees, working groups and task forces.
IASP does not allow campaigns for the nomination and election processes.
You can nominate yourself.
Only past and current Councilors or Officers who are Regular Members may stand for election as President-elect. You will find the list of eligible members on the electronic nomination form.
Officer positions are two (2) year terms. (Secretary and Treasurer are renewable for one additional term.)
Councilor positions are six (6) year terms.
Former Councilors must be out of office for a minimum of six (6) years before they stand for re-election. (Jose Castro-Lopes, a current Councilor, was appointed in 2008 to fill a vacant position. He is eligible to run for a permanent Council position in this election.)

There are no Councilor position terms expiring in 2010.

Please make sure your information is complete and correct (and that you check the box next to name) before submitting as the system will not allow you to change your information afterwards.
Nominations close on March 31, 2010. The Nominations Committee will review the nominees and keeping in mind IASP's goal of maintaining wide geographic and multidisciplinary representation, prepare a slate of final candidates for voting by electronic ballot in May 2010.
