Sherwyn Schwartz is CEO and Chief Medical Officer of privately-held Diabetes and Glandular Disease (dgd) Research Inc., a leader in the progressive use of the most current, state-of-the-art technologies and cutting-edge treatments for metabolic disorders and glandular diseases. The clinic is internationally renowned for its care of patients with diabetes mellitus, as well as other endocrine disorders, and has remained one of the largest endocrinology clinics in South Texas. Founded in 1979, the clinic was instrumental in establishing the Diabetes Centers of Excellence at what is now Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital and has received the Centers of Excellence received recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). Dr. Schwartz has been the principal investigator or participated in numerous clinical trials on well known drugs such as metformin, insulin glargine, pramlintide (Symlin), nateglinide (Starlix), troglitazone (Rezulin), as well as the STELLAR trial on statins. Dr. Schwartz holds a B.S. degree in Biology and a Medical Degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Schwartz is board certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism and Internal Medicine.

Giovanni Solinas is Principal Investigator and Director of the Laboratory of Medical Stress Biology in Department of Medicine, University of Fribourg in the Division of Physiology. Dr. Solinas has authored or co-authored numerous scientific papers in the area of his expertise, macrophages, obesity, metabolic syndrome and bone remodeling. He has presented at a number of medical meetings including EASD, European Congress on Obesity, as well as Keystone Symposia. Dr. Solinas holds a Medical Science degree in Molecular Biology from Milan State University in Milan, Italy, and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Fribourg in Fribourg, Switzerland.
